80. The Finer Points of Mind-Dueling

The Mind-Duel is on between Asteroid Stu and the dastardly Captain Krool! How fortunate we are to have Norbert the Wiener to describe (to Edzl the Nebboid and us) the nuances of this form of combat to which most of us, I suspect, are not privy. At least I hope not!

Students of history may notice Norbert’s reference to “an obscure Terran politician” (page 37) as the source of the idiotic quotations that Stu uses as an aid to stabilize his conscious mind while the dueling is done by his subconscious. The quotes are by Dan Quayle, 44th Vice President of the United States under George H. Bush, and like the current Vice President, also from Indiana. (We Hoosiers, if you’ll forgive a bit of editorializing, have really come up with some doozies! Disclosure: I was born in Indianapolis.)

From Tom Tomorrow’s “Impeachment Talk,” posted on The Nib on 11/5/19.

The current Vice President, as I’m sure you know is Mike Pence, whom superb political cartoonist, Tom Tomorrow, likes to call “the white-haired guy.”

In reference to last week’s posting, (No. 78, “The Inner Super-Villain”) I’d like to thank readers (yes, there are a few – and thanks to you all) for encouragement and support. Thanks are particularly due to Elizabeth J. Peak, artist, painter, printmaker.

I’m also pleased to report that I sold a hard copy of “Multiverse Comics and Stories” at the Mercantile. (There’s still some left – make perfect presents for the person who has everything. Chances are, they don’t have this!) Not only that, but Amazon posted a deposit of $2 plus change to my account – I guess someone bought a copy of a Kindle version of one of my comics. (See below for links to the comics on Amazon.)

The money just keeps rolling in!

Next Time: A surprising twist in store as Captain Krool is revealed to be much more than a peculiar villain with an upside-down head!

Asteroid Stu and the Mind-Duel, 54 pages, black and white interior, is also available in Kindle and hardcopy formats from Amazon. Both comics include Edzl, the Nebboid from the Vague Nebula, who will be the lead character in a running feature story, “Edzl’s Awakening: Or, Yes We Have Some Nibbanas.” This will be part of Pause & Reflect Comics, currently in progress.

Multiverse Comics and Stories, 106 pages, full color, is available from Amazon in Kindle and hardcopy formats.
